Things that happened while I was reading PotE:

• Friends announced they were going to have a baby
• Other friends had one
• The economic crisis hit, the bailout didn’t pass and then it did
• Obama was elected
• We went to New York, California, and Rome
• I built Caroline’s blog for her and she started using it

Now on to Blood River – an amazing recount of a journalist’s attempt in 2004 to cross Africa via the Congo River.

I’ve had at least a dozen different cell phones now, from an old school motorola circa 1997 flip phone to an early nokia to the bberry curve which i now use for work. There is something beautiful and peaceful though about my UK nokia mobile that is really all about being a phone. It doesn’t try to be a bunch of things and fail. The design, interface and functionality are all about dialing, talking, and listening. And it can send SMS pretty well, too.

In this day and age, its nice to find a product that has focused on its purpose instead of masquerading as many things to many people. It’s just a phone.

Once again, trying to get out of Austin, TX and my jetblue flight is delayed into JFK.
I can see the airplane. It’s right there waiting for us. But we’re not getting on because of traffic in New York, or so they say.

The plane can be built in hours (ok, maybe days) thru automated and optimized processes, but flying and organizing flights is another story. I wish I knew what air-traffic-control software was like.

Its gotta be good, but I suspect there’s room for improvement. The planes have gotten more advanced over the years. Why have the travel delays remained the same?
