I was out at the Web 2.0 Conference last week with several thousand others interested in the future of the internet and how user generated content is changing the web landscape. On day three, I can confidently say that there are two main themes here at the Moscone Center:
- Everyone seems to hate Google and refers to them as the 800 pound gorilla who steals away developer talent.
- Everyone is still trying to figure out how to make money
- Business models are still focused on either ad revenue (which depends on Google…) Or a premium version of the site.
The social networking sites are all afraid of finding a different biz model as they keep harping on kumbaya for their communities…
